Africa 4th Industrial Revolution Standardisation Strategy

The African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO) began development of the Strategy in 2020 and the Centre was invited to contribute as a steering committee member.

The Strategy provides direction on standardisation for the well-being of Africans in the global economy, positioning standards as the key driver and enabler of economic activities. Through the Strategy, the ARSO intends to enhance standards development, use standardisation to enable competitiveness of goods and services, adapt standardisation best practices, and institutionalise the effective management and coordination of standards. The intent is that the ARSO will take an active leadership role, aligning the Strategy with other national and regional policies in relation to industry, consumers and environment; facilitate the coordination and scaling up of standardisation in Africa; and provide access to relevant standardisation information.
