C4IR HOSTS A CURTAIN CLOSE WORKSHOP FOR THE ACCELERATE ADOPTION OF IIOT TECHNOLOGIES

Curtain close workshop for the accelerate adoption of IIoT technologies by SMMEs Pilot Project in the Eastern Cape

The Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution South Africa (C4IR SA) will host a curtain close workshop to showcase the adoption of an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) pilot project by South African small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMMEs).

The two-day workshop, which will be held on 25 and 26 January 2023 in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, will highlight the successes and challenges faced by SMMEs during the pilot project, as well as explore how policies on industry support can be revised to increase the potential value of digital transformation.

C4IR SA adopted the IIoT policy protocol to remove barriers to SMME adopting IIoT technologies by maximising the use of IoT technologies, demonstrate inclusive digital transformation by providing assistance and advice to SMMEs, and create a collaborative platform for its business partners to work with government and academia to co-design, prototype, test and refine various enablers for 4IR technology adoption.

The event will feature an industry exhibit workshop to give SMMEs involved in the pilot project the opportunity to discuss the successes and difficulties they have encountered. The event also aims to identify partners to further the project and develop a strategy for supporting SMMEs.
